Plantation Drive Report

Govt Degree College Dooru, in collaboration with the Department of Social Forestry, successfully organized a one-day plantation drive on the college campus on March 26th, 2024. The college's NSS, Department of Environmental Sciences, and Eco Club impeccably executed the program. The event's core message was that planting trees can revitalize the land.

The main aims and the objectives of the programme were: -

  • To aware students about the importance of afforestation and give them education about conservation of forest ecosystem
  • To foster enthusiasm among students to start plantation at home
  • To collaborate with Department of Social Forestry for engaging students in this self-less service

The NSS volunteers, faculty, and college students came together to participate in a plantation drive to raise awareness about the significance of afforestation amidst the current environmental crisis. Around 40 poly bag saplings of conifer species, including Deodar, Pinus, and Italian Cyprus, were planted across the college premises. The inauguration of the drive was graced by Ms. Gazala, DFO Social Forestry Division Anantnag, who planted a sapling on the campus. In her speech, she emphasized the need for regular plantation initiatives involving students and NSS volunteers. Dr. Gh. Hassan Thakur, the Principal of the college, also urged the students to actively participate in such programs for sustainable forest management. An interactive session was organized to enlighten the students about the importance of afforestation, especially in the current scenario where climate change and global warming are pressing concerns.
